This is an great opportunity for someone looking for their first step into management to join our Urban Outfitters team in Covent Garden. The ideal candidate will have retail experience within a supervisor role and a keen eye for fashion. The ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team will be key to the role. This position will fulfill operational duties as well as hold responsibilities in customer service and merchandising and display.

OBJECTIVE:

To support store management team in achieving a store environment that fosters creativity, employee development and the VIBE philosophy. Take responsibility for all department activities in conjunction with the Department Manager. To uphold the Urban Outfitters “Peers Training Peers” philosophy.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • An understanding of the Urban Outfitters culture and its appeal to the local market
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

JOB SKILLS:

People:

  • Model the way by delivering a positive, friendly experience by engaging the customer through conversation and service
  • Act as a role model to the team by contributing to the overall VIBE in the store by being positive, respectful and helpful to others
  • Assist management to recruit, train, develop and coach a productive team
  • Uphold Company standards and act as a positive role model to others

Leadership and Communication:

  • Model the way by inspiring, motivating and encouraging teamwork
  • Assist in the training and development of peers and Sales Associates
  • Possess excellent communication skills and effectively support store management to delegate projects, and consistently follow-up with the team
  • Actively participate in and lead department and daily meetings
  • Effectively use communication binders and noticeboards, ensuring that important information reaches the entire team

Managing the Environment:

  • Support the department manager in overseeing all levels of customer service in order to achieve Company-average mystery shop results
  • Assume responsibility to oversee and follow-up on all department activities for progress and completion in the absence of the department manager
  • Assist in floor supervising within the department and the store by coordinating projects and ensuring excellent customer service

Operations:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in job knowledge (i.e. tills, shipment tasks, and fitting room guidelines)
  • Take and active role in the processing of new shipment and help to keep the receiving and back stock areas clean and organised
  • Exhibit strong loss prevention awareness and help ensure compliance on inventory control measures
  • Adhere to Company Health & Safety regulations at all times
  • Set the example by adhering to Company policies and procedures

Merchandising and Display:

  • Uphold merchandising standards and ensure that the sales floor is well stocked
  • Understand how to use Company tools to react to trends and drive business
  • Assist in merchandising and display projects and take an active participation in floor sets

Commercial Awareness:

  • Support management to maximise departmental sales
  • Utilise Company reports to react to trends and drive business
  • Stay abreast of current trends through knowledge of customer profile
