What made you decide to launch your own label, or was that always the goal?
I have been working as a designer for other companies, but in the end I really wanted to have my own label so that I could do everything I like, instead of having someone telling me I cannot.

Who or what inspires you and your work?
A lot of things, my friends, movies, music, street fashion, books etc.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their own label?
Patience, good banking relations, and some economic skills. Then of course you need your own sense of style so that you can create a collection that is unique for your brand.

If you weren't a fashion designer, what do you think you'd be doing?
For sure I would love to be a singer but my voice is not that good, so I have to say chef since I love to cook.

Describe your own personal style:
A mix of my own brand with second hand and some Chanel items.

Ok, that makes us feel a bit jealous.

Essential item that every woman should have in her wardrobe:
A trench coat.

What do you never leave home without?
My wallet.

What's next for Carin Wester?
We will have our next Spring / Summer '10 fashion show in Copenhagen in August '09; the same month we will also open our worldwide web shop.

Gwen Guthrie - 'Ain't nothing going on but the rent'.
