Top places/things to see:

Leeds City Museum
Cookridge Street, LS2 8BH | www.leeds.gov.uk/cityMuseum
This is an extract from the official website. If you don't want to go after reading this, then I can't help! "Visit Leeds City Museum and come face-to-face with the Leeds Tiger, step into 'Ancient Worlds' and see the final resting place of the Leeds Mummy and even dig for fossils in the 'Life on Earth' gallery"

The Museum of Modern Medicine
Beckett St, LS9 7LN | www.thackraymuseum.org
"The award-winning Thackray Museum is one of the UK's leading medical museums, telling the story of medicine and explaining how advances in medicine are changing our lives" I know this sounds like something you would get dragged to when you were young, but trust me - you'll love it!

Tropical World
Canal Gardens, LS8 | www.roundhaypark.org.uk/tropical-world-leeds
A small bus ride away from the city centre, my friends and friends of friends took me here when I first moved to Leeds. I've always liked these kinds of places, tropical insects and plants, snakes, starring at seemingly empty tanks waiting for something to move, and a nocturnal house with bats and other creepy crawlies. I've never been scared of butterflies but on mass they frightened the hell out of me. Nothing quite like screaming in front of people you've just met for the first time as a gentle introduction.

Leeds Art Gallery
The Headrow, LS1 | www.leeds.gov.uk/artgallery
It sounds obvious, but city art galleries I think tend to be over looked as we are all looking for something a bit different. Leeds Art Gallery hosts a wide range of contemporary exhibitions and has some terrific collections.

Old Holbeck
I've mentioned 'Holbeck Urban Village' a lot here. Holbeck is a Leeds District that was, and in some places still is in need of some TLC, but all city redevelopment comes at a price. It seems to rip out the character and plasticise the city's more interesting qualities. One good by product of redevelopment is that Holback has been made a safer place to explore and it still holds some real treats. There are rumours that the City Council want to make Holbeck part of LS1 - City Centre district so see some of old Leeds before it's too late.
