Best places to dance:

A Nation of Shopkeepers
27 – 37 Cookridge Street, LS2 3AG | www.anationofshopkeepers.com
New arrival to Leeds City Centre, A Nation of Shop Keepers is a super cool all-rounder. Live music, live drawing, DJs and more. The custom decor has been supplied by local creative studio Nous Vous. This is the place everyone is talking about.

The Faversham
1–5 Springfield Mt, LS2 9NG | www.thefaversham.com
Situated just out of town slap-bang between LS6-Hyde Park and the University districts, Bar-Club-Restaurant 'The Fav' has always been a hive of alternative activity. If I mention acts such as Crystal Castles, Metronomy, Late Of The Pier, Tunng, Nightmares On Wax, Deerhunter and Animal Collective you get the idea.

Brudenell Social Club
33 Queens Road, Headingley, LS6 1NY | www.brudenellsocialclub.co.uk
This unexpected venue has seen some of the best live music action in Leeds for at least the last 15 years. The 'not for profit' Brudenell Social Club sits in the heart of LS6-Hyde Park District and is a huge supporter of independent music. If you care about music this is your kind of place.

The Northen Light
Cross York Street, Leeds YHS | www.myspace.com/thenorthernlightleeds
The Northern Light is the little sister of "The Light" in Shoreditch, London - a converted Victorian Methodist school - this place is defiantly worth a visit. It's a bit of a secret and it's not the easiest club to find, but once you're there you wont be disappointed. It's a huge venue with an additional cocktail lounge complete with balcony views of the courtyard; a perfect late night out.

Old Chapel - Rehearsal Rooms
1 Crossland Ct, Czar St, LS11 9PR | www.myspace.com/theoldchapel
If you're interested in making other people dance this is the place to start. "The OC" has been home to some of the best bands to come out of Leeds in the last 15 years. Popular bands like The Kaiser Chiefs and Pigeon Detectives all have home here. Whatever kind of music you like, if that band comes from Leeds the likelihood is that they rehearse here. The Old Chapel's owner Mark Hubbard also works alongside local businesses and government run schemes including projects with Urban Outfitters to keep music live and give the next generation a helping hand. The Old Chapel is Leeds music. If you're thinking of starting a band and you need a place to meet people and be part of something special this is what you've been looking for.
