Bingo – Display Manager,
Oxford Street Store.
Real Name:
Scott McMellon

Why do people call you Bingo?
It dates back 14 years when me and a friend were taking the piss out of each other and he called me Bingo, after the dopey bear with a stupid smile from The Banana Splits (an old kids show from around the late ‘60s) and it just stuck.

Where did you grow up?
Birmingham.

Give us a brief description of what you do:
I manage a team of 3 display artists in the Oxford Street store. We do the usual display work with a lot of extra projects thrown our way as we are the flag ship store, which is great to be involved with - for example the press events, big window installations and show casing designer brands.

What’s the most fun aspect of your job?
Working with a great team and pushing myself a bit further each time a new challenge comes my way.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A cameraman.

What do you never leave home without?
My keys and a pair of shoes.

What was the last thing you made?
A table. I am typing this with glue and wood dye all over my fingers.

How do you spend most of your time outside of work?
Riding my road bike into the countryside to escape the big city madness.

What’s so great about fixed gear bikes?
The simplicity of them, but recently I have fallen in love with geared road bikes as they are faster and you can cover further distances on them without your legs falling off.

How old were you when you first learnt to ride a bike?
I was born on a bike.

What’s the worst hair cut you’ve ever had?
I used to be a guinea pig for a friend who was a hair stylist, so you can imagine I had some really bad mullets, mohawks, the lot. I think the styles shocked my head so much my hair decided enough was enough and jumped ship, hence my baldness today and a big collection of hats.

Favorite book:
I’m not a big reader but most art books are worth a good flick through.

Favourite film:
Probably Lost Boys, it’s always a winner “It’s only noodles Michael”

Favourite album:
That question is impossible to answer really but Ill Communication by the Beastie Boys has got to be up there, as it has so many memories for me growing up.

Favourite food:
I love all food really but pizza or a good curry makes me happy.
