Winter Wonderland
Princes Street Gardens, New Town/Old Town | www.gildedballoon.co.uk/wwonderland
It's a cheap teen thrill in the festive season - ice-skating, Ferris wheel, sausages and mulled wine.
Arthur's Seat
Holyrood Park
Get some flat shoes on, grab some beers and go up a big cold hill in the middle of the city. It's worth it for the huge sense of achievement when you're at the top and the view of the sea.
Gallery of Modern Art (Dean Gallery)
75 Belford Road EH4 3DS | www.nationalgalleries.org
A short walk out of the city centre, there's always a famous name and someone who's up and coming. It's fun to guess who are the ones which will stick around.
The Fruitmarket Gallery
45 Market Street EH1 1DF | www.fruitmarket.co.uk
See some of Edinburgh Art Colleges finest at The Fruitmarket Gallery and our City Art Centre will also be reopening in 2011.
Graffiti Wall
Potterrow, Old Town
Really it's just a wall where very talented young people show off their can skills. It's a long stretch that people walk past on their way to work/uni etc, and I worry it's taken for granted. I want more people to go there just to look at it. Everyone's favourite is Elph where you can see examples of his work in Dragonfly, Villager and www.akaelph.com.
Regents Terrace / Carlton Hill
Regents Terrace, East End
It is just a street, and yes, another hill, but it's a chance to see some really imposing grand historic buildings, not in the same way as castles and other rubbish. Carlton Hill will bring out the hippy in you, and is also a perfect place to watch the Edinburgh's seemingly constant fireworks display.
