Quality and detail are at the heart of Japanese brand Evisu. Originally named ‘Evis’, founder Hidehiko Yamane sees himself as more of a tailor rather than designer of jeans per se. Disappointed with today’s mass-production, Yamane’s style is influenced by his love for all things vintage and his obsession with the tiniest attention to detail. For the last 40 years, Evisu have been producing premium-quality denim manufactured on vintage looms, and up until quite recently, each iconic seagull was hand-painted onto the backs of jeans by Yamane himself.
