Team Manager Rushden Distribution Centre

Our fashion and lifestyle brands Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are growing quickly across Europe. It’s an exciting time to join us; we’ve over 30 stores with more opening this year and an increasingly successful e-commerce business.

Last year we brought our distribution function in-house to support our brands’ growth plans and opened a state of the art Distribution Campus comprising 2 buildings in Rushden, Northants. We like to think we’re a little bit different in how we do things; we don’t want to be a run of the mill Distribution Campus, we want to create something very special. We’re looking for a Team Manager to complete our management and leadership team, someone who reflects our values and will help us develop our culture. Have a look at this month's FOCUS on the CILT website to learn more about us and what we're trying to achieve.

Our Team Managers report directly into our DC Managers so have a real impact on what we do. They need passion and enthusiasm to create the culture that delivers great results for our brands and creates a great place to work for our team. They need to lead our people and operations in a way that ensures our daily operational and business requirements are met. They're expected to lead the team to challenge the way we do things e.g. processes, productivity Health & Safety, hygiene, stock control and overall Campus standards.

Leadership is really important to us, we believe it’s the key to our success, so you’ll need to be passionate about it and understand what it means to be a great leader. Ideally you’ll have a degree and have completed a graduate scheme that’s provided you with the fundamentals of leadership.

What you will do:

  • Lead and engage our teams
  • Promote and assure Health and Safety best practice across the Campus
  • Create a great place to work
  • Facilitate effective communication across the Campus
  • Plan, manage and adjust resource levels to meet operational requirements
  • Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for our teams
  • Responsible for team member performance reviews, coaching and development and succession planning
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout the campus
  • Assure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Manage teams in a way that drives our culture
  • Achieve KPIs and SLAs through successfully leading and managing teams
  • Ensure stock-flow and warehouse systems are managed in the URBN way

What we need you to bring:

  • Leadership presence
  • Ideally a degree
  • Excellent communicator
  • A flexible approach to business needs
  • Well organised and a strong planner
  • Accurate and numerate
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Knowledge of Working Time legislation
  • Knowledge of end to end warehouse processes
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and MS IT packages

Salary:£30,000 per annum circa - depending on experience
